What happens after billions of bacteria die? Where do their spirits go?

Their bodies are industrially extracted into biomaterials, yet we speak only of sustainability and degradation, never of life and death.

This book is made from the bodies of dead bacteria, then returned to soils collected from across London, where living microorganisms continue to rewrite its pages. Each mark left behind by decay, by invisible organisms, by time, becomes a form of inscription, a form of becoming.

Perhaps life never truly ends. Perhaps it simply shifts between forms. And perhaps language, too, has never belonged only to us.
